The Village Lanes Youth league wrapped up its 2008/2009 season by crowning the overall season champions in both the Junior/Senior and Prep leagues on Saturday May 9th. In addition to league champions total team points and individual achievements were rewarded with $3,360 in scholarship monies to 42 youths.

In the Junior/Senior league, the first half season champions R n R took on second half champions Ben’s Crew in a three game roll-off. Ben’s Crew consisting of team members Brittnay Woodard, MaKenna Wood, Ben Cash, and Amber Woodard outlasted team R n R with members Suzanne Ripley, Steve Ripley, and Nathan Wirt to win the Junior/Senior team of the year honors. The Hammers consisting of Jade Marshall, Logan Tyler, Joey Adcock, and Bryan Millerleile won the most points all season and took home the first place in the team scholarship award of $500 ($125 per bowler). Finishing second was Ben’s Crew with $320 ($80 per bowler). Third was Team 3 consisting of Molly Landon. Stephan Morgan, Steven Thompson, and John Doyle with $240 ($60 per bowler).

In the Prep league the first half season champions Big Dogs bowled the second half champions Mei Wan Ti in a tight three game roll-off. Prevailing were Big Dogs consisting of Elizabeth Simmons, Baker Picardat, Sean Ryan, and Samuel DePace to take home the honor of Prep team of the year. Runner-ups, Mei Wan Ti, consisted of members Kaitlyn Ketch, Austin Serio, Alissa Adickes, and Brooklynn Splitt. The team of High Maintanence with members Sarah May, Katie Monfort, Caitlyn Ridings, and Kayla Nelson took home the season long points title with an award of $300 ($75 per bowler). Finishing second were The Big Dogs with a scholarship award of $200 ($50 per bowler). Third in points was the team of Mei Wan Ti with $160 ($40 per bowler).

1st – Suzanne Ripley ($75)

These scholarship awards are held in an account until the bowler withdraws them for valid college or vocational needs. The United States Bowling Congress, at no cost to the youth bowler, administers the account.

Over 140 youth from ages 3 to 21 bowled in the Saturday morning youth leagues this past season. New summer leagues are now forming with bowling starting Monday, June 1st.
